Cutest Little Laughing Baby Ever!!

I have no idea what started him off, but this pacifier cracked him up. He has never taken a pacifier, but we were given a few at the baby shower and they have been hanging around. Big sister Maggie can make him laugh like no other. Sorry it's so dark, someday I will learn how to edit video?!

Dodge Boys Mom's Hooded Towels

Aww do you love this? Jack looks like a little prizefighter. He coulda been a contenda.

Dodge Boys Mom's Hooded Towel on Baby Jack by Emily Horne

This awesome hooded towel was designed and sewn by the talented Jeanette of Dodge Boys Mom on Etsy. She created this fabulous crib sheet that I use on Jack's crib all the time. I have washed it and dried it (in the dryer and on the line) weekly since receiving it and it has held up beautifully. The colors are vibrant and the construction is sturdy. The same can be said for these lovely hooded towels.

Jack Sporting his Hooded Towel

The quality of this hooded towel is excellent. The towel is big, absorbent and soft. I just love this color and the little geckos lining the hood and edges is just adorable. A note on the color- my images sucked the color out of this towel- the actual color of the towel is much closer to this image in her shop. This towel is so much better then those thin hooded towels you get in a set at your baby shower. This will be your go-to towel for the little ones for years!! For under $20, that is really sayin' something.

Jack in his Hooded Towel in Black and White

She has 29 awesome hooded towels up in her Etsy shop right now! Check out these awesome little fishies or these funny pink piggies. Look at all of them. Go on, do it. Then come back here and leave a comment telling us your favorite hooded towel at Dodge Boys Mom. Then guess what?

YOU COULD WIN ONE!

As a matter of fact, TWO of you will win one each! Aww, that Dodge Boy's Mom, she's a good lady. Thank you Jeanette for this generous giveaway and good luck Mad Madam Em readers! This contest will run for three weeks ending September 18th.

To Enter:

A Quick Trip Home

I swapped with my mama, her kid for mine. My darling sister, Liz, was here for a whole week. I took this in her Senior year. She's a brain and attending ASU (go Rams).

Elizabeth Senior Jump 70's Edit

So, we had a ball and so did Maggie, many stories for other times, but then we swapped back. I drive Liz & Jack the long 500 miles to mom's. When we got there Jack got a present from his Grammar & sister- a personalized sippy cup! He knew exactly how to use it, brilliant baby.

Jack and his Jack Cup at Grammar's Aug 09

Mom decided to pull out the sewing machine. I am so proud of her.
She made a pillowcase. I can't wait to see what she will come up with next! (ducking)

Mamma Fort Stockton 09

Jack sure loves his Pop-Pop!
He is not too comfortable with grass though- very alien to him.
Good thing we don't have any :)

All that outside business called for a bath from Grammar in the sink.

Tired from his bathy- he fell asleep on sissy.

I took a few shots on the way home with the babies. This is in Pecos, TX.

This is in Pecos too, I can't pass up a broken-down house, especially with a clothesline.

I was raised to take pictures of trains, it's the right thing to do.

Sore soon, and some great giveaways coming up too. A new one from UPrinting! Stay tuned!

YoungBlood's Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway

Skull Diaper Chalkboard Crawling

Look at this diaper. Skulls. How hip is that? This blue skull print is ultra hip. I found this awesome diaper at Youngbloods "A Unique Baby Boutique" on Etsy-my go-to place for AIO cloth diapers. I am in awe with abundance of sewing talent on Etsy. I threw my sewing machine in DONATION BOX after 7 attempts to sew a straight line. Total seamstress fail. Jenny Youngblood doesn't fail- she triumphs!

Skull Diaper Chalkboard

These AIO diapers are so well made! This diaper will (and has) hold up to many many washes. It's absorbent without being bulky and they are obviously adorable. My favorite picks from her Etsy store are the Flaming Skulls and this Black & Green Paw Print AIO. What is awesome about that Paw Print diaper is that it's for newborns, and it has a notch in the front so baby's belly button can heal without being irritated by the diaper. Now, I have seen many AIO's but that is very unique. Go to YoungBloods, buy up all her stock!

Guess what?
YoungBloods has been cool enough to offer a giveaway to Mad Madam Em readers! A $20 Gift Certificate towards ANYTHING in her Etsy store! Aren’t you happy you're here? Just head on over to YoungBloods on Etsy and tell me which awesome handcrafted item you would want for the little one in your life and leave a comment below. This giveaway will run for two weeks, ending Monday, August 17th. Winner will be notified via email, so be sure I can get to your email or leave it in your comment.

Three Monkeys Cloth Diapers Review and Giveaway

Adorable! That is what I thought when I saw these AIO cloth diapers. It's all about the prints, people. Yes, absorbency counts... and 5 points for being comfortable- but it's really all about the print. Stacey, the seamstress behind Three Monkeys Cloth Diapers knows how to pick 'em. She has some great options for boys which is nice for Jack and the little fella in your life. How about the Rockin' Flaming Skull AIO or I am loving the bugs on this Buggy Print AIO. But, wait! There's more!! Check this site out... www.threemonkeysclothdiapers.com She has over 200 prints to choose from! Seriously? Yes. She custom sews each diaper to ensure fit. Nahhh... Yes. She does custom orders too.

From the Three Monkeys Cloth Diapers Etsy store:
"My diaper has been tried and tested by many, many babes and with feedback from my customers and my own experience on my babes, I present Three Monkeys Cloth Diapers to you. [On most diapers] The inner layer (closest to the baby) is a coordinating flannel. The soaker is five thirsty layers of cotton terry cloth soaker. Next is the polyurethane layer, which makes this diaper an AIO, that is hidden between the inner flannel/soaker and the outer flannel. Finally, the outer layer is the print of your choice!! This diaper comes with snaps which close on the hip or across the belly. And elastic gussets on legs and back to contain any messes.
I can sew anything from costumes to curtains, but my focus is on cloth diapering needs. Thanks so much for taking the time to check me out and please fell free to ask me any questions you may have :)" ~Stacey
This is the diaper I received, I love it!
Get your dragon print diaper here.

Dodge Boys Mom Review and Giveaway

I needed a new crib sheet, I was workin' with 3 of them, one of which I picked up at a yard sale and I am fairly sure is circa 1983, how sad. I turned to Etsy, looking for durable and unique crib bedding, and that is just what I found in Dodge Boys Mom. She makes these fantastic 100% cotton crib sheets. At first, I was going to get this Froggy sheet, to match Jack's nursery, but then I saw this Airplane print and had to have it.

These sheets have been pre-washed to prevent shrinkage and right now Dodge Boys Mom has 57 prints to choose from! Jeanette, the handcrafter behind the Etsy store doesn't just make crib sheets. She also creates bibs, burp pads, hooded towels, and tote bags! I can't even sew on a button! The construction on this sheet is sturdy: excellent quality.

I can tell it will hold up to many, many washes.

This contest has ended! Thanks to all that entered. Curious who won? Well, it was:

The Laughing Place Review and Giveaway

I thought I was going to use cloth diapers. Weeks before Jack was born, I got a load of trifolds, pins and plastic pants. I had one box of disposables. I figured after the first few weeks of really gross poo, I would start using my cloth diapers, just like my mom used on me and my sister. Not. so. much.

So, I started to look into AIO (All-In-One) diapers, specifically handcrafted diapers on Etsy. The Laughing Place caught my eye immediately because of their fantastic fabric choices. I fell in LOVE with this "Space Kids" retro fabric.

The Laughing Place is headed by mom/daughter team Kim and Dana. They have been doing business on the web since 2000. Dana has worked side by side with her mom, Kim, since she was 10 years old. Their store includes adorable embroidered items for baby, as well as these fantastic diapers.

Scandeez Review & Giveaway

Look at these adorable shoes handcrafted from Etsy's Scandeez! Connie, the Scandinavian artist behind Scandeez, creates these amazing "Moks" using soft leather and a keen design aesthetic. They are comfortable, durable and extremely well constructed. Each pair of Moks features an adorable design and Connie suggests you measure your little one's foot so she can get the size right. Custom fit leather shoes for $30? Can she make my size? Check out this pair of Ladybug Moks. SO CUTE. Someone let me borrow a little girl, and I will put her little foot in this pair of dusty pink Flower Moks. They are simple, yet have this wonderful stitched surprise on the bottom. When I was looking through Scandeez' Etsy store the first time, I fell in love with this little gray pair with elephants on the bottoms.
Or as my daughter would say, Elafoofoo's.

I think Baby Jack is going to have these little Elafoofoo shoes for many years to come. When they wont fit anymore, I am going to string them up by the little pull loops in the back of each Mok and hang them in his room, because they are too cute to quit. Thanks so much to Connie for the opportunity to review her beautiful shoes.

Huggalugs Review and Giveaway

Contest Closed! Congrats Stephanie!

I think I had a baby to put him in legwarmers. When the trend started a few years ago, I could only imagine my little crawler rocking a pair of striped leg huggers.
Now Jack actually wears them! Huggalugs, in fact.
Go check out their site, they have so many adorable designs, and they have some fantastic photography.

eyebrows

My little mansey has some serious chubby legs, and I was worried they would pinch at the top. In the very least, I assumed they would leave red marks, indentations where the leg huggers were pulled up. Nope! Not with Huggalugs. They are breathable, they do not pinch and yet they stay up!
Love them!

tummy

Another amazing thing is that Jack and Maggie can share them! She can wear them on her arms and heck, even as legwarmers with a skirt. Jack rocks them on his legs, perfect from crawling and then potty training. Now, how many other clothing items can my 11 year old girl share with my 6 month old, I ask ya? So, I want 22 pairs please. Starting with the Jo Bomber's, then we need a pair of the Wild Child and round it out with a pair of the Train Tracks. I have several adorable shirts to pair my Huggalugs with, this "Here Comes Trouble" tee is compliments of bon bébé from their adorable Wild Child line. You must go check them out- so cute.

Contest closed... congrats Jami!

Take pictures of your children. Take pictures of your children in funny shirts. Do this so in twenty years they will look at pictures from their youth and think you were hip. You won't be hip anymore, but at least you were for a while. Not only were you cool, you made your kid cool. Nobody is cooler than Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash and Jack Stone, of course.

Johnny Cash Shirt 2

This absolutely adorable rockin’ shirt came to us from The Trendy Tadpole. I have fallen in LOVE with their designs. The Buddha Belly, Oh Snap, and These aren’t the parents designs are my absolute favorites, but it is hard to choose.

Trendy Tadpole baby tee shirts are made on American Apparel and are 100% cotton and stretchy. Trendy Tadpole's funny baby clothes will be the hit at the next baby shower."

Sum-Bo-Shine Review and Giveaway!

Contest Closed! Congrats to Meredith!

I've always been into heavily perfumed lotions and bath gels. Red Door by Elizabeth Arden, Japanese Cherry Blossom by Bath and Body Works... mmm. Then something happened. When I became pregnant with Jack and I used my normal products, they turned my stomach. They smelled great in the bottle, but not when they went on my body. Something about hormones or my body chemistry, either way my body just was not having it anymore. I started to seek out natural and organic products that wouldn't leave an alcohol/chemical smell. That is when I found Sum-Bo-Shine.

"Sum-Bo-Shine creates products that are free of artificial fragrances, and do not contain parabens, sodium laurel sulfates, mineral oil or any harmful ingredients while using the least environmentally harmful preservative available on the market today."
Sum-Bo-Shine is headed by Carolyn Deal, she is a mother of three and grandmother of one.
"We have received a lot of emails and phone calls inquiring about the name Sum-Bo-Shine. When friends and family see the name they smile because they know where the name originated. My children's names are Summer (Sum), Rainbow (Bo) and Sunshine (Shine).” ~ Carolyn Deal
Baby Jack loves the Aloe and Lavender Bath Powder. It really is therapeutic.
I love that I can be assured it will be gentle on his dainty little hiney.

A warm bath with a sprinkle or two of this bath powder,
blow a few raspberries in his froggy robe, then it's off to bed for this little man.

Sum-Bo-Shine has been kind enough to offer a giveaway to Mad Madam Em readers! Aren’t you happy you're here? Just head on over to Sum-Bo-Shine and tell me which skin care product you would like to try and leave a comment below. This giveaway will run for one week, ending Saturday, June 20th 2009. A Toy Garden

When I was pregnant with Jack, I started reading Mothering Magazine. I love them. I've read some really interesting articles on articles on breastfeeding, cosleeping and natural living. They also have fantastic sponsors. In the back pages of Mothering, I found A Toy Garden.

I went to their website and fell in love with their wooden toys,
felted items
, and play sets. Seriously, how much do you love these
Witch and Wizard Dolls from Brazil? I covet those little guys!
I have spent hours on the site pouring through all of the
beautiful handcrafted, natural and character building toys.

The fabulous Sonya Bingaman, the Toy Gardener herself, has generously donated some toys for Jack to review. Yeah, Jack reviews toys... he's cool like that.

This is A Toy Garden's Figure Eight Rainbow Rattle. Here is what A Toy Garden says about this rattle:

"This is a beautiful rattle with a bell that gently rings as your baby plays.
The rainbow colored wood beads are strung on a sturdy elastic string
making this twisty and interesting to play with.
Only non-toxic wood stains are used. It's made in Germany. "

Jack loves it!
He can get his little fingers around it, it's colorful, interesting and sturdy. Apparently, it tastes amazing.

Also, we have play silks!!
This is what A Toy Garden has to say about their gorgeous floaty silks:

"These soft and luxurious, gently blended rainbow silks are fun for children and adults. Hang over a baby or child's bed as a canopy, use to cover play stands, for dancing, playing, pretend play, as a blanket, as a tablecloth, cape, skirt, or just hang on the wall. The mini 12 inch rainbow is precious for wrapping small dolls and toys. The 21 and 36 inch sizes are great for dress up. The two largest sizes are great for canopies, big peak-a-boo, decorating a play area, creating an arch to climb under
"London Bridges Falling Down" etc., or for creating a magical walkway over the rainbow bridge for a birthday celebration. All are extra-thick 8mm, China Habotai Silk. Hand-dyed in the USA.
"

They are amazing. We played with them forever when they arrived. I was running around behind Maggie trying to keep them clean, just until I got some images! Man, this adorable baby loves these silks too.

I love products that inspire creative play & toys that are non-toxic, organic, natural, simple and tough. A Toy Garden is blooming with these toys! They have a huge selection and unique products that I have never seen anywhere else.

I would like to thank Sonya and A Toy Garden for the
opportunity to review their marvelous products!
